Hello, my name is Joe Piatchek, managing attorney of The Piatchek Law Firm, LLC. Our primary goal is to provide quality, Affordable Legal Services to individuals, families, and businesses. Yes, I said "affordable", a word not often associated with attorneys. However, shouldn't your attorney be affordable?
I firmly believe that everyone who needs an attorney should be able to see one. I want to make quality legal services more available, by making them more affordable. This does not mean our firm will always have the lowest fees; it doesn't mean we work for free; however, it does mean that when you come to see us, you will receive professional, compassionate legal services, at a fair price. While we do not take every type of case, we do handle a wide array of legal concerns; and in the areas that we do handle, we try to keep our prices reasonable.
Besides my personal belief in making legal services more available, there is another reason I have chosen to make prices more affordable. Simply put, I want to give my clients the incentive to handle problems before they arise, or before they become major problems. Please allow me to explain.
When you have a legal concern, you may think about consulting with an attorney, yet you have concerns about the cost. Maybe you tell yourself that you simply can't afford it. Or, even worse, perhaps you simply avoid the situation altogether, and do nothing. Meanwhile, the problem grows larger, until one day, you or your family are forced to deal with it, at any cost (usually a much larger cost). In short, the "perpetual put-off" can lead to much larger problems down the line, and substantially more time and money will be needed to fix the problem.
Or, to put it another way:
Hiring an attorney is usually less expensive than not hiring an attorney.
Not hiring an attorney, when you need one, is one of the most costly mistakes you can make - and money is not the only cost - you may also pay in time, stress, and frustration. Legal problems have a tendency to become larger and more complex, the longer they are not addressed. I see it all the time, and I am trying to change this by making prices more affordable, so that you will see me before the problems become bigger. Perhaps you can think of it as the practice of "Preventative Law", much like "Preventative Medicine". An ounce of prevention can go a long way. Perhaps the assurance of reasonable fees will be the extra incentive you need to deal with the problem now, instead of later.
A NOTE TO LEGAL "DO-IT-YOURSELF-ERS"
I continually have the chance to talk with a lot of folks who I would consider Legal "Do-It-Yourself-ers", who think they can save money by handling their case on their own. Instead of going to a licensed, qualified attorney, they will rely on a computer program, or the Internet, or a friend "who knows what they are doing". While they may think they are saving money, often times they are actually costing themselves far more in the long run, because mistakes are being made. Often times, these mistakes are the kind that no one will discover until it is too late - the "invalid" Last Will and Testament that is uncovered after someone dies; or the business that is set up incorrectly, discovered after a lawsuit is already filed; the detrimental contract clause that is discovered after the contract is already signed.
In all of these cases, by the time the mistake is discovered, it is simply too late to fix the mistake. Or, in other cases, the problems can be fixed, but they are just more time consuming and expensive to fix, such as incorrect, do-it-yourself divorce documents, which could have been done right the first time by an attorney.
Consulting a website, or finding your own legal form, does not create a relationship, and if you have further problems, you cannot go back to that website or computer program to ask questions. I have found that, more often than not, the folks who "do-it-yourself" almost always end up in an attorney's office some day anyway, wondering if they did it right, and wondering what they should do now, often after a problem arises. You may be able to make a contract that looks good, but is it correct? Do you understand what you are creating and/or signing? Is this the best way to handle it?
If you could get quality legal advice for a reasonable fee, wouldn't that make more sense than trying to handle it yourself? Now you can. See the Contact Us page for details on how to get ahold of us.
At the Piatchek Law Firm, LLC, we believe that everyone deserves quality legal services, at a reasonable rate, so that problems may be addressed now, while the solution may still be quick, simple, and affordable.
